New Patrick Lencioni Book

November 13, 2007

I really like Patrick Lencioni and his books. I’ve heard him speak twice now and he’s very entertaining, but his books are even better. If you haven’t read any of them you should check it out. “Death by Meeting” is excellent. He has a very unique and interesting style. The first 75% of the book is a fable about the subject matter and very cleverly written. The last 25% explains how to put the concepts to work. It’s brilliant.

His latest book is called “The Three Signs of a Miserable Job”, which is for managers and their employees. You can see and hear him talk about it here.

Great Book on Mental Toughness

November 1, 2007

My friend, Andre Durand from PingIdentity, recently sent me two of his favorite books. One of them is “177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class”. I only had to read the first chapter (there are 177 of them :-)) to know why. This is a great book and I highly recommend it, not only as a book, but as a reference.

I wrote and asked the author, Steve Siebold, if I could blog on it and possibly include quotes in my entries. He replied, but I’m still waiting for a definitive answer, which I hope will be yes. However, he did point me to a link where you can read the first five chapters, so please check it out.

I will have to say that the best part of chapter one is not provided online (smart). Steve has an entire page in the book where he contrasts the middle class and world class. If I get permission to quote I’ll share a couple of my favorites, but it really challenged me and how I think. Anyway, you’ll want the book.
